BIO
I am Francesco Coppola, an Italian photographer living near Milan who came to photography through necessity rather than planning. After my father's battle with Alzheimer's and the end of an eleven-year relationship in 2015, photography became my language for processing grief.
From 2016-2018, I studied at Bottega Immagine in Milan with established portrait photographers including Efrem Raimondi, Alessio Albi, and Nicola Casini. I transitioned from landscapes to portraiture, building a fashion portfolio that received positive professional feedback by 2021.
When AI recently started disrupting fashion photography, rather than compete with algorithms, I chose to explore what only human hands can create - experimental techniques and artistic nude photography using deliberately analog, intentionally imperfect methods.
My broader approach includes free lensing, intentional camera movement, and light painting with fiber optics - techniques requiring physical presence and intuitive response that can't be replicated by AI.

Statement
Recovering, repairing, reusing—the verbs of healing guide my creative practice, from the vintage equipment I use to how I transform images in post-production.
In a culture of instant gratification and disposable relationships, my work offers something different: images that reward sustained attention, that celebrate complexity, that honor both beauty and depth.
Through careful attention to the eloquence of the human form, I create photographs that refuse to simplify. Each image invites desire not as consumption, but as contemplation; beauty not as surface, but as revelation.
My work is nourishment for those who hunger for more than the quick and disposable—for those who recognize that lasting value lies in what endures our gaze.
