A new direction for my art business

Hello everibody!

Today I arrive to you to talk about the Artist coaching consultancy I had last week and what this means for the future of my website, blog and general network.

Your truly BW; ph: Francesco Coppola

So, what happened during that 1hr of video conference with the Art Coach consultancy?

I showed her a selection of my creative art nude images, then I told her how I've started my art business, the hurdles I've met, my analysis of the traffic I've obtained in different phases of this year entrepreneurship attempt and what is my intuition of what happens and why.

From her I've received then an appreciation for my artwork, above all the less figurative, she told me that with that type of artwork I could be able to carve myself a profitable niche in the art world, but this can come only after I solve some big problems my art business showed.

Focus

I need to focus my photography more on what could sell leaving behind that part of my photographic formation that brings me to produce portraits. Portraits that is the most difficult type of art that can be sold. The capabilities, anyway, are there I have only to continue specifically in this direction.

Brand

About being more selective in what I produce and show I've already told you just above, the other part is how I talk about the images I show around. How I present myself, either in the every week articles and in my website. In this light, luckily I'd already guessed that I needed to change my website and transforming it into an artistic diary. It's with this intent that I shot the self-portrait above, looking from down to up into the future, where and when a light spill pre-announces a new and better life for me.

Prices

The prices I've used in my failed campaigns were simply too high - for a newcomer into artistic photography, publications or not. From this point of view, sure a future profile on a web art gallery could solve my problem into reaching the best market for my type of art photography, but that will come only after I've corrected my brand presence and voice, a task that takes several months, then, when the time will be right to open a profile on Saatchi Art or Artlist or any other I like, there I will have two types of editions to sell my prints: the open editions and the originals.

Open edition prints prices, for a newbie like me, should stay under 100 euros.

The original and closed edition prints can and must go up, some hundreds, but surely keep under 1000 dollars/euros.

This will imply time spent into changing my site, the blog, the way I talk of my images, focusing more on the moods and feelings and less on the technicalities. I will be able to open an account on a web art gallery - only after having solved the brand problems - next year, more or less with the same time lapse that took last year to start my first sale campaign.

Maybe a bit earlier? Who knows.

Work must be done, and then you will be surely notified when the countdown for the opening of the 2.0 attempts in my artistic print sale will begin.

And that's all for now.

It may be a long road that I have ahead but I can't wait to start this changing effort in order to start anew with better chances to win my brighter future. Tomorrow I'll be back with images from an old model shoot to share. Until then, shine on!

Shine on!

Per aspera ad astra!
