FC-Talk is back: Season 2, Episode 4 is live

FC Talk season 2 episode 4 cover; by: Francesco Coppola

A new episode of FC-Talk is out now, both on this website and on Spotify.

May was a strange month. It began with some genuinely encouraging news: an interview with Unattired magazine and a publication on Artistonish, a contemporary art platform, but it and ended with a seven-day flu that derailed plans I had been building toward for weeks. The cyanotype printing course I had scheduled for the 24th of May, which would have allowed me to finally complete my Saatchi Art profile with handcrafted original prints, had to be postponed. The model shoot I had planned followed it into delay. Not the ending I had in mind.

But the net result of the month, against all odds, stays in positive territory. The publications are real. The open calls list I have been building is real. And September, with a full Saatchi Art proposal and new opportunities potentially won by then, is looking like it could be a very interesting moment.

In this episode I also spend some time on Google I/O 2026 and what it means for artists trying to build an international presence from a distance. Google's pivot toward an AI-first search experience is not good news for anyone relying on organic web traffic, and I share my thoughts on why the old ways: open calls, art magazines, offline galleries, may actually become more important as web search grows noisier and less trustworthy. The command I have arrived at is simple: de-Googlify, de-Microsoftify, de-Adobeify, de-Sloppify. We vote with our wallets, and it is time to start doing so.

June will be the month of the return to shooting, of blog work, of public announcements around the Unattired interview, and — somewhere in there — of turning fifty-two. More on that in the next episode, the last one before the summer break.

The episode is available now. You can listen directly on this page or find it on Spotify. If you enjoy it, sharing it costs nothing and means a great deal.

See you in the next one.
