Some Creative Exercise with Greta

Hi everybody!

I'm back here for the last time before my mid-August break with another part of the model sharing event where I conducted some creative experiments, all at Chillax Studios by photographer Alessio Mapelli, working with model Greta.

You've already seen images from this event at Mapelli's studio with model Roberta Ghirotto - this time I'll be showcasing different types of looks and feels.

The Black and White Edit Above you'll find the only black and white image from this series. Why did I choose to edit this image this way? It was the ray of light from the continuous light source above her that made the decision for me. I felt strongly that in this case, converting to black and white was the best option to emphasize that dramatic lighting.

Pictorial Inspiration The edit above felt most suitable when I drew inspiration from my experience at the Pictorial workshop I attended a few months before this shoot (which took place in November 2024). The approach gave the image a more artistic, painterly quality.

Color Contrasts We continue with more pictorial vibes in the shot above, featuring the classic color contrast between red and blue - a combination that never fails to create visual tension and interest.

This one above is simply a bonus image with this fine combination of colors that  usually is obtained with strobes covered by some colored jels, here instead we were using led lighst with different color temperatures, and I like it a lot.

Technical Details All these images were created with my trusty Pentax K1 and two manual film-era lenses: the Vivitar 24mm f/2.8 MC for the full-figure shots and the Pentax M 50mm f/1.4 for the closer portraits.

I hope you can feel the emotions I've tried to convey through these images - your appreciation would mean the world to me!

We'll catch up again on the 18th of this month.

Be Creative! Stay Shining!

Per aspera ad astra!
